Mission Statement
The mission of School 5 is to turn out independent learners. Educators provide student choice whenever possible within the curriculum regarding content and/or end products as evidence of mastery. Through choice, students may begin to see their purpose in life as they are guided by their own natural abilities and proclivities.
We seek to develop avid readers and connect the classroom to the real world to show the relevancy and value of an education. Our families and the larger community can be powerful contributors to student learning and so we encourage their involvement.
Learners will be taught resilience by embracing mistakes as necessary and effective avenues of learning. Whenever possible, “do-overs” will be offered, and at times, will be required to promote growth.
