My name is Mrs. Romano and I LOVE Second Grade!
I began my teaching career at School #7 in Belleville where I first taught Fifth Grade.  I liked it, but the next year an opportunity opened up for a Second Grade classroom and I took it.  Well, I was hooked!  Second Graders are my favorite people.  I love their enthusiasm, their stories, the way they learn, what I learn from them, everything!
I left #7 in 2007 for a maternity leave to have my daughter, who is now 11 and in 6th grade.
When I returned in 2008 at School #5, I was asked to teach Kindergarten, where I remained for 2 years. Then a Second Grade teacher retired and I was lucky enough to inherit her classroom, where I have been ever since.
Second Grade is such an exciting year.  We freshen up our reading skills.  We learn new spelling and vocabulary.  We learn lots of new skills in math.  We begin some serious writing.  We also do some really cool projects.
This year we will begin a new social studies series that I have taken a little peek at and I am very excited about it!
Should you ever have any questions, concerns or problems about anything during the school year don't be afraid to give me a shout.  You can email me at:
You can call School 5 and leave a message with the office.
Or you can do it the old-fashioned way and send a note with your child.
I will always get back to you as soon as possible.
Let's have a great year together!
